What we believe.
"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

We believe Scripture is the word of God. As such, our beliefs come from Scripture. The following are the core beliefs of Citylight Fort Worth.  All of our teaching, our life, and our ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

We believe in one God, the creator and sustainer of all. He is eternally existent as a holy trinity.  The trinity is three in one, and comprised of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Scripture

We believe the Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments, is God's inspired and infallible Word. We believe the Bible is the standard and final authority for all conduct, faith, and doctrine.

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and after falling into sin, all mankind thereafter followed suit. Sin now resides within each person. This sin separates us from a relationship with God

Salvation

We believe that God so loved the world that He sent His one and only Son to die on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. This forgiveness is offered to us through God's grace. By trusting and believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior we can be saved.

Eternal Security

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. As such, there is no works one can perform to earn, nor lose one's salvation. We believe that the believer is laid hold of, and kept in right relationship with God, by the power of God and not by self-effort, Thus, every believer is secure in that salvation..

The Church

The local church is a body of baptized profession followers of Jesus Christ. Who are being built up and formed by Christ into a body of believers who regularly gather for worship, discipleship, and for mission.

Ressurection

We believe that Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth. When He returns, there will be a resurrection of the just and the unjust, the just to be with Him in eternal blessing, the unjust to be separated from Him in eternal condemnation.
